The goal of the Boise Art Museum is to inspire and engage people by exploring the visual arts. It emphasizes education and exhibitions that foster learning. The museum is dedicated to being an innovative leader in the field of visual arts, serving as a vital part of the cultural and educational life of the Boise community.
Basque Museum & Cultural Center
The Basque Museum and Cultural Center is dedicated to preserving and promoting the culture and history of the region. Boiseko Ikastola preschool is the only one of its kind outside of the Basque country. The museum is a repository of information about Basque culture and history. Through visitor support, the cultural center will be able to continue to grow and become one of the top museums in the country.
The Children's Museum of Idaho seeks to provide kids with various learning experiences designed to stimulate their development. Through interactive exhibits, which adults supervise, kids can participate in multiple activities that promote learning.
The Old Idaho Penitentiary, constructed in 1870, is one of the few remaining territorial prisons open to the public. Throughout its 101-year history, it has seen numerous scandals and escapes. You can enter the prison's four walls and experience what it's like to be a prisoner as steel doors close behind you.
The Discovery Center of Idaho is dedicated to providing the best possible education and hands-on experiences for children and adults. The center aims to promote the development of math, science, engineering, and art education through its programs. The center's grand opening took place in 1988. It attracted over 27,000 visitors in just three months, demonstrating the community's desire for a facility that focuses on science and industry. The Discovery Center can provide guests with various educational experiences through its exhibitions. These include traveling exhibitions and unique programs created by the center's Exhibits Team. The center's community support helps it remove barriers that prevent individuals from pursuing a passion for science.
The Idaho Black History Museum (IBHM)
The IBHM is housed in the former St. Paul Baptist Church building. The church was founded in 1909 by the Rev. Hardy. He and his father-in-law constructed the structure that stands today. The museum is vital to the community and the State of Idaho. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the church, which housed the first Black congregation in the state.
