June is National Camping Month in the U.S., and it is a perfect time for this popular summer activity. It allows people of all ages to escape the busy world and reconnect with nature. Besides, it is a great way to spend time with family and friends and spend more time outdoors!
Luckily, Idaho has some great camping options for your family this June! Get outdoors at one of these area campgrounds to make some memories this summer.
Lucky Peak State Park - This park is located just 15 miles from Boise and offers a variety of camping options, including RV sites, tent sites, and cabins. There are also hiking trails, swimming areas, and a boat launch.
Sawtooth National Forest - The Sawtooth National Forest is located about an hour from Boise and offers a variety of camping options, including dispersed camping, campgrounds, and RV parks. There are also hiking trails, fishing spots, and scenic overlooks.
Boise-Meridian RV Park - The Boise-Meridian RV Park is in the heart of the Treasure Valley! It is an ideal location for those looking for a relaxing RV experience - near various local attractions such as shopping, historical sites, and recreational facilities. There are plenty of beautiful byways and rivers to choose from and multiple facilities for groups and families to enjoy, such as an indoor pool and spa, laundry facilities, and restrooms.
Shafer Butte Campground - Located in the Boise Ridge Mountains, near the Bogus Basin Recreation Area, Shafer Butte is about 7,000 feet above sea level and is a TENT-ONLY campground. Numerous trails lead through the area, and people can enjoy biking and hiking. They can also take in the area's stunning scenic views. Horseback riding, mountain biking, and hiking are popular in the area. The Mores Mountain Trail starts from the campground and is a family-friendly interpretive nature trail. The nearby Bogus Basin Mountain recreation area offers free trails and disc golf courses.
Macks Creek Park - Situated on the Boise River Arm of Lucky Peak Lake, Macks Creek Park features a small campground. It's 25 miles from Boise, and visitors can enjoy various recreational activities such as fishing, swimming, and boating. There is also no cell service at the lake, and parking is limited. During the summer, a Camp Host lives on-site and can provide guests with information and assistance. The Park Host may be unavailable during the week when they have scheduled days off. The campground is located near shady trees on the lakeshore. Macks Creek Park is an excellent place for families to enjoy the outdoors and take advantage of the lake's numerous recreation opportunities.
