Home Improvement Projects to Tackle in Quarantine

Since Idaho is under that “stay-at-home” order, that means we’re all spending a lot more time at home. When we aren’t going out to jobs or events every day, we’re seeing more time for all of those house projects we’ve put off for week, months, or even years. Everything that’s been on the list of “I’ll get to that later…,” it’s time to tackle it. The only downside here is that you may not have all of the supplies you need, but don’t worry - a few places are still open for call-ahead orders and curbside pickup.
Hang Shelves & Photos: Hanging shelves and artwork is a skill, so it’s a great one to get kids to help you with! With a basic tool kit and a few simple mounting supplies, you’ll be on your way to getting everything hung up and level.
Refresh Lawns, Yards, and Gardens: You don’t need a lot of tools to tackle an outdoor refresh. This can be as simple as weeding, prepping the lawnmower for the season, or moving and cleaning any outdoor furniture you may have. Take a look at wood pieces that may need some conditioning or repainting or check if plants need to be repotted or pruned.
Patch Up Holes: If you’ve got kids at home or if you’re doing some major renovations, chances are you’ve got a few holes from room to room. Maybe the kids ripped something out of the wall or a past project went awry. You can start by filling them in and plan for repainting in the future.
Organize Closets & Surface: With all of this extra time, there’s no reason to ignore overstuffed closets and crowded surfaces. Totes, baskets, or clear plastic containers are great for sorting and storing items that may not be used all year long. Store the winter coats, purge the old pantry seasonings, and get rid of expired beauty products. Once you start clearing out the old stuff, you’ll have more room for organizing what remains.
Clean Carpets: This task is one that is often put off because it’s super time consuming and carpets can take a while to dry. This is perfect for quarantine time because you can tackle it in small amounts while other family members are in other parts of the home or hanging around outdoors.
